If you have NPCs in-game in persistent-world environment MMO or FPS, would these NPCs count as 1 license?

Example:
You have 100 NPCs enemies attacking 1 player.
Does that count as 101 CCU or 1 CCU?

    Continued.

If you have rooms with 100 NPC enemies each attacking 1 player.

There are 5 rooms, total 500 NPC enemies attacking 5 players in separate rooms.
Does that count as 505 CCUs or 5 CCUs?
  • No, NPCs don't count as CCU. Only "real" network connections, either from "real" clients or server-to-server, are counting as CCUs.

You can add as many NPC objects as you want.

    You out-foxed your competitors ;).

Last week I was wondering why when I added 20 NPCs the SmartFox Community Edition stopped working.
Turns out that 1 NPC = 1 Player... If you have 300 NPCs all over your RPG terrain, you need a 300 user license.

It gets worse if you have 300 NPCs x 20 user sessions, you need an unlimited license. Physics, anti-cheat, collision detection, hit-detection for multi-player with latency, navigation, even basic AI it was just boring to code in Java.
