Dashboard shows only System counters

I've successfully (?) configured and installed the dashboard and CounterPublisher tools on one of our servers, but only see System.* counters. There are no images generated or even .rrd files for the various SocketServer.* counters. Any ideas as to what would cause this?

(To be clear: I have successfully installed and do see all counters on my local development environment.)
