Hi,
Where can I find the documentation for Zeus these days. The section in In Depth seems to have vanished.

This is the new way to use Zeus, it will automatically do punchthrough for you and has relay fallback. https://doc.photonengine.com/en-us/bolt/current/in-depth/photon-cloud5

1) The updated site will be up next week, the current once is outdated. If you are going to have dedicated servers, we recommend Photon Server, which the Photon Swarm SDK included with the package integrates it with Bolt. Otherwise if you are going the "p2p" route you will want to use the Photon Cloud integration. Zeus was a halfway solution that is now part of the Photon Cloud integration which works automatically.
A new doc I am working on goes in depth on this. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yjPE69MdT3BhY-HjARFdqkIpqXujORLsKiX6B8GWoLI/edit#heading=h.5l9nz2m8po1v
2) No, but you can use relay and disable punchthrough.

But does this not use the photon cloud and therefore is subject to CCU usage? Or do we only use CCU spaces when we can't achieve NAT punch-through and therefore have to use the relay feature?0

nvm my info is out of date0

The Photon Cloud integration automatically attempts to connect directly using punchthrough (Zeus), if that fails it falls back to relay. Every concurrent user counts towards the CCU.0
-
So as of now there is no way to use a non-CCU based master server?0
-
No, you could use this for example https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/713910

I'm confused. Please help me understand how Photon Cloud now replaces Zeus.
I would like to keep my multi-player costs very cheap. My game will be low cost and won't have a monthly fee. So, paying some possibly growing cost (CCU) as popularity increases is not an option.

Probably not far enough along to have a hard line of what I will or won't do... but my desire is to allow people to have their own servers where people can join a game. My server would only be used for finding available servers and provide match-making (which sounded like what Zeus would handle).stanchion said:@McCann Does your game use dedicated servers?
So, how do I provide an inexpensive multi-player experience?

@McCann The Photon Cloud integration is for games without dedicated servers. There are many free master servers available for Unity such as https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/713910

@stanchion , so Zeus isn't part of this picture anymore (and I don't know why): https://www.photonengine.com/en/Bolt ?stanchion said:@McCann The Photon Cloud integration is for games without dedicated servers. ... and now we have 2 options:
1) use some other 3rd party and build out our own "Zeus-like" server?
2) use Photon Cloud?
If Photon Cloud is the preferred method, how would a small game developer leverage it without getting destroyed in costs? i.e. do we not use the "relay" function (save cost)?

@stanchion
1) so, why is Zeus not part of the solution anymore? https://www.photonengine.com/en/Bolt
2) can I use Photon Cloud and not allow users to use the relay portion?
3) please point me to the documentation on using Photon Cloud with Bolt.
Thanks!0 -
