Bandwidth vs Server resource limitations

From what I've gathered, it seems that most server providers indicate that the server resources will be your bottleneck far before bandwidth is, and that the primary limitation on bandwidth is how much you are willing to pay.

Is this assumption correct? I just want to be sure that this information is valid and not a marketing ploy since the information is coming directly from the server providers.

  • generally yeah given you are on a top notch datacenter at least.
on more limited data centers the bandwidth can become a cap too or the latency you get on high usage if the switch etc hardware is just too bad to handle the load
