GitHub Access for Everyone

Quick recap:
- Originally, purchasing Bolt allowed a user github access to the source
- Originally, no code was allowed to be submitted for improving Bolt
- ExitGames buys Bolt
- All new users do not get GitHub access
- Recently, we're told we can submit code, awesome

So... why not open up GitHub access to the new users again? Not the udpkit, but the Bolt front-end.

Definitely not trying to start an argument. I'll even accept, "That's just how it is," for a reply. Just thinking it might be good for the product.

Comments

  • I'll let Tobias answer this when he's available but I don't think this will happen. The most important part to Bolt users is this issue tracker, which will probably be moved somewhere everyone can see and post.
  • For the time being, we want to go the (more or less) closed source route.
We will accept some submissions but only from a few, select developers. There won't be a submission-form or "upgrade path" to get into this group. This is going to be based on the connection that we have with some individuals or studios. Unless you are in tight contact with us anyways, we will only accept feedback through the regular channels.

I understand your point and don't really disagree. Still, this is not feeling right for us at the moment.
  • I appreciate the response, thanks. Makes sense.
