Where is the quantum documentation for a custom dedicated server?

We are looking into quantum. According to the image below, there is a relay+sync dedicated server. Also, there is documentation on using the quantum plugin for the photon server. Here are two questions:

1. Where is the documentation for using my own custom server, not photon server?
2. Can the quantum plugin for the photon server be used standalone with my custom server? If not, how may I have access to the features provided by the quantum plugin on my custom server?

you can not use Q with self-hosted server.
