Friend off-line status

Hello,
does a client get a "StatusUpdate" message when a friend (added by AddFriend) gets disconnected? And does this friend needs to change his status to "Offline" before disconnecting? And what happens when the friend's app quits ungracefully without changing the status? Is there any timeout or any way to ask about friend's online status?

There is a timeout yes, I believe by default it's 10 seconds.
So I think you should get a status update when the user is disconnected explicitly or unexpectedly.
