Movement With Mechanim

Quick question I am following the tutorials. In Tutorial 3 it talks about character movement and the character motor. Chapter 4 talks about animations and Mechanim. I am using a slightly modified Unity rigidbody 3rd person controller with Mechanim. How do I implement this with the Unity rigidbody 3rd person controller?

    thanks for getting back to me. is there a tutorial for that? I was able to make the player move, however the server was moving the client and client was moving the server and the animations were not visible in the controlling instance.
