My AWS cloud watch monitoring stops working after some hours?

I have set up AWS cloud watch monitoring for our server, following the documentation. It works for some hours, but then it just stops report data points. The server is still functioning though. After I restarted the server, it seems to work again. Any ideas what may be causing this?

Any useful log entries? Did you try increasing the log level?
